Snowpack

Balmy temperatures below treeline today encouraged rapid settlement of the new snow. Meanwhile, gusty northerly winds above treeline moved lots of snow up high. The first good visibility since Saturday allowed observation of the high country and the affects of our recent storms. Evidence of a very widespread avalanche cycle(s) was apparent. Slides were seen on virtually all aspects and elevations. Many slides that ran over the past 5 days have been covered up by subsequent snowfall. Slides are the biggest of the season.
