Snowpack

Toured and skied Owen today. Partly cloudy in the morning turning to full sun in afternoon. Warm. Ascended the diagonal chute in warming snow- depth 0"-12". Skied down the north facing Jenga chute- its seen lots of traffic, though the snow remains punchy. Then we skinned up E facing bowl beneath the Owen's peak. Dug a small pit at the top of skin- snow depth +/- 90 cm, 10-15 cm of weak facets at the ground, the main pack in this zone had a styrofoam consistency, a few compression tests showed CT23 and CT-no result. This snow was supportive to skiers through the bottom of the bowl. The road out was rocky and thin.
