Skier triggered avalanche just below Birdwood pass .Skier went for a 10 m ride no injuries.Slide stopped on a 10 m wide bench. An after the event quick test showed an easy shear 40 cm down on a planer surface .The entire block was a low density cohesive whole that did not fall apart when lifted in the air. Heavy winds had created a soft slab .!0 m lower the top 40 cm had not yet slabbed up.
