Sending it in Silver Sands

We found 40cm of fresh snow in the Silver Sands riding area overlying a 2cm thick breakable crust. We found no signs of the surface hoar layer that's been reported in spotty areas across the region. We also had no significant results with our snowpack tests on a north west facing slope at 1475m; but suspect open areas in the alpine and treeline where the snow is likely more wind affected, there could be reactive wind slabs. Due to a combination of poor visibility and the amount of new storm snow, we chose to have fun riding in the trees and meadows, avoiding avalanche terrain for the day.
