Good snow and easy travel. Skied from 2400m, dug a quick pit at 2300m. Northern aspect, 25° leeward slope. 70cm deep, with 20cm of depth hoar at ground level. Top 5cm was not bonding very well, sloughing in powdery slabs. Column failed after one shoulder tap at the depth hoar layer. Failed as a solid 50cm slab. We stuck to the lower angle alpine slopes and boulder fields. Didn't notice any recent avalanche activity.
