Wind, Wind and more Wind in Elkford

The skiing isn’t great but the views are!! Today in Elkford it was obvious right away that there had been some extreme winds recently. No slopes were spared the wrath, with sastrugi, and hard wind pressed snow the dominant surface. Steep south-facing slopes were starting to soften as we left. Temperatures were cooler than yesterday with a reading of -5.9 at 2300 meters and -8 at 2580m. Winds were light from the west. There were no real avalanche problems while we were in the field today. We suspect small wet loose on steep solar aspects are possible late afternoon when the sun is at its warmest. Travel is fast, so you can get to those summits quickly!
