Weather

Heavy overnight/early morning snowfall with snow showers through the day. Generally lighter/moderate winds with heavy gusts. Temperature was rising steadily over the morning.

Avalanche

Skier accidental size 2, storm slab over wind slab from previous day. Skier tried to avoid a convexity on "Sliders", but triggered the avalanche. Heavy winds from previous day had windloaded the slope, heavy snow overnight once winds had subsided created a storm slab on top.

Incident

Comment

Skier was carried for <100m. Airbag deployed. Partial and relatively shallow burial from chest down in a seated position. Skier was able to dig themselves out. No injuries. No significant terrain traps. Skier was carried through a gully and stopped on the opposing slope, avalanche continued another ~150m.
