Two-day ACC intro to backcountry skiing trip into the Mt. Murray Cabin. Did two test pits (Mt. Greenberry, BTL, ~1800m, NNE; Mt. Murray, TL, ~1700m, ENE). Both pits had snow depth of 99cm, with faceting apparent in the bottom half of the snowpack. Mt. Greenberry pit showed no results on either Compression test or Extended Column test. Mt. Murray had CTE 2 down 20cm on a storm snow interface. No result on Extended Column test. We rode E slopes in trees on Mt. Murray, with some good skiing had by all. In the trees there was quite a bit of evidence of tree bombs coming down throughout the afternoon, so the warming has started. All and all a pretty good day in the mountains.
