10cm overnight at treeline with moderate wind from the south had loaded the north facing chutes/couloirs with 20-30cm. Previous days tracks barely visible on the fans. Controlled a single SZ 1.5 20-30cm thick storm slab on the lee of an entrance with a cornice kick. Few 15-20cm deep soft slabs could be ski cut on either sides of the guts in most lines we skied. The wind became strong from the WNW early in the afternoon and some moderate reverse loading happened just below ridgetop. Some cornices are getting huge and we saw a SZ 2 cornice triggered avalanche at 16:00 just after skiing our last line. Excellent day!
Avalanche
SZ 2 cornice fall. Cornices are getting huge from the recent snowfalls, wind (mostly SW) and mild temperatures.
