This AM: Snowing S1-2, winds on RMP SE/20 Last night winds were intense. Abrams weather station showed averages 40 to 60 mph with 7 hours of gusts over 100 mph and another 4 hours with gust in the 90s- Peak gust of 117 mph came around midnight. Winds continue to blow steady and strong from the northwest.
Avalanche
Intense NW winds blew last night and continue today. Abrams weather stations clocked averages 40 to 60 mph with 7 hours of gusts over 100 mph- Peak gust of 117 mph around midnight. These winds wreaked havoc in the Gorge, downing a power line (Ouray lost power overnight) and in excess of one dozen mature live trees were uprooted below treeline. Some look to have cause small avalanches as they fell down to the highway. See pics.
