Weather

Mostly cloudy transitioned to continuous snowfall closer to the ridgeline. Winds in the valley bottom were northerly and from the west on the ridge. Winds were strong enough to transport snow, but not strong enough to sway tree branches. Up to one inch of snow had filled in the skin track in the valley bottom.

Snowpack

New snow depths ranged between 6 inches and 10 inches just below the ridge line. Ocular estimate of a hasty pit below the ridge showed a snow depth of approximately 30 inches. Two skiers tested a short convex test slope in the valley bottom. There were no indicators of instability. No signs of instabiliiy along the entire skin track, which included up to 12 people at one time. A very hasty pit below the ridge showed a shovel shear failure to the ground. I don't have other information, as I received this information as my group prepared to ski. I observed a CT test, which had Q3 CT12 (approximate # of taps), which failed at old snow last night's snow interface.
