Avalanche

Observed a few avalanches on the north side of Wilson peak that likely ran during the last storm cycle. One notable slab ran at least 600' and the crown looked to be about a meter deep. 2-3'x60'x500'. The slide initiated on a steep NNW aspect at about 13000', ran over some cliffs, and triggered a secondary slab in the apron that looked deeper than a meter. The secondary slide's crown propagated an estimated 80-100'. Was unable to determine if the other two slides were slabs or loose but they ran 1000' or more. Seems like the San Juans may have an early season plagued with October crust problems. This problem will be highly localized but could have 'repeat offender' written all over it.
