Recent storm snow from last weekend was generally a foot to 18" deep. Extensive cracking and collapsing observed below treeline and nearing treeline on easterly aspects. Cracking is audible and propagates for 50 to 75 feet. Reactive layer is the new snow, old snow interface. New snow is a relatively stiff storm slab (fist+ to 4 finger hardness) sitting on top of faceted grains (fist hardness).
