Weather

bluebird all day and strong solar radiation offset by high winds in areas that were not protected by trees. T-shirt weather until you got into the wind. Winds seemed to be predominantly from the NE with a good amount of snow transport along the ridges.

Snowpack

Snowpack: new snow from yesterday's storm appeared to be 4-5" and much deeper in small leeward pockets. Avy activity: skied from a high ridge line that has seen little activity earlier this season. We were on and above slopes that were 35-40deg. No activity beyond small storm snow releases on steep rollovers that entrained small amounts of snow, not enough to knock someone off their feet. In one isolated area right at the top of a convex roll, we saw a small crack of about 5-6' long, not propagating far and was shallow in its depth (4-5").
