Clear, light winds and unseasonably cold. Felt like January.
Snowpack
The top of Red 3 was more or less stripped to a mixture of sastrugi and pencil hard wind board. A few hundred feet down from summit a 4-8" wind slab appeared. It posed no immediate threat, but it would crack around skis and slide in between ski tracks very easily. If there was more volume it would have been a larger issue. It will bear watching how it settles and bonds to underlying snow. Below TL the new snow on north and west aspects was not slabby and saw no signs of instability. Only as we approached highway (10,300')was there any warming of the surface by the late March sun.
