Avalanche
Saw a slide that had already occurred while driving back into Crested Butte on a NE aspect of Whetstone Mountain above treeline. The terrain is rather rocky and unsupported from the bottom. My guess is the slide was a natural trigger by windloading, but I also believe that warm temps may have had something to do with it also, possibly lubricating a bed surface or weak layer with meltwater. Appeared to have slid to the ground in some areas. Unsure of crown size, would estimate right around a meter deep and up to 200 feet wide. N- R2-D2.5- G
