Snowpack

SUPER shallow, massively faceted snowpack at and below treeline (9-13mm depth hoar chains), with an HS only 50cm at the top of Slumgullion Pass, 11,500-12,500 (the only elevations holding sufficient snow. Everything on south was completely burnt and dry ground. Things did get interesting once(we)wandered into exposed terrain with K-hard windslabs 2-4ft thick. ECT tests varied but all showed full propagation with energetic shears/sudden collapses (depending on slope angle) with results ranging from ECTPV, to ECTP22. exposed terrain at high elevations and plateaus were all scoured from north winds, including a majority of the N-facing bowls that dive off the Rambuillett Plateau above Slum Pass. Cross loaded gullies are the only concern, and it seems like it would take a lot of water weight to activate most of those hardslab loaded slopes.
