the day started out warm and sunny and turned cloudy, breezy and snowing lightly by the end of the tour

Snowpack

We dug in a ESE location. HS was 95 cm and consisted of a pack trying to strengthen. The upper 15 cm was the weakest with some well formed near surface facets on top. Below that there was a lot of rounding going on in the mid-pack slab. The bottom had the typical facets but none were very large nor well formed. See snowpit profile below. We could not duplicate the failure we achieved on our first CT test and ECT had no failure. Our feeling is the layer that the CT failed on is not widespread and is strengthening.
