Weather

Clear skies in the morning gave way to scattered and broken skies mid day. Moderate to strong NW winds.

Snowpack

About 1" of new snow sluffed off on some very steep terrain. Surface crusts remained frozen on all aspects except at low elevations. East aspects ATL held 1" MFcr over facets at the surface with clean shears. NE aspects ATL held soft and mostly faceted/decomposed slab where we traveled. Westerly aspects held firm wind-affected snow with minimal boot/ski pen. No signs of instability.

Avalanche

A few long-running, large (D2 to D2.5) wet loose avalanches had run during last week's warmup on easterly aspects above East Maroon Creek.
