Snowpack

The snowpack was 1 meter deep and a Northeast aspect. At 1:00PM, 10,000 ft, clear sky and high winds from the west gusting occasionally around 30-40 mph, higher on the ridges looked much windier. Walking in the snow was very firm and skis hardly made tracks in sunny areas. 15 inches of new storm snow sat on top of a faceted layer that failed at 7 during a compression test with Q1. At ground level a depth hoar layer 5 inches thick failed at 11 in a compression test with Q2 results. While skiing out at 2:30PM, the skis sunk into wet snow knee deep in some spots.
