Dug pit on ENE aspect 11,200'. HS 175cm. ECT produced a very energetic failure about 18" from surface. ECTP22 Q1 SP. Weak layer was a layer of 5-6mm buried surface hoar.

Avalanche

Triggered a very small slab on the surface hoar layer on a small, isolated pillow. ENE aspect 11,200' SS-AS-R1-D1. This slide was inconsequential due to the small size of the feature, but it illustrated the potential for similar slides on larger terrain features. Observed a few small naturals that had run sometime in the previous week. All appeared to have run on that same surface hoar layer.
