Weather
Sunny with a high temperature in the upper 30s, low 40s. The gully was in full sun, but was sheltered from the W/NW winds.
Snowpack
Snow which was sheltered from the wind and exposed to the sun all morning had warmed significantly and was often grabby and sticky. Snow which was not sheltered from the wind was still solid crust on the surface even at lower elevations.
Avalanche
Loose, wet slide was triggered by first skier. That skier fell further down the gully and lost a ski, the slide stopped short of him. The first skier's partner took the same line and triggered a second loose, wet slide which also stopped short of the skier below. Entry/trigger point was around 13,000' feet. Slide was triggered at 12:10pm.
