Weather
Windy and cool near and above treeline with increasing clouds. Skies were broken to overcast by 4 PM.
Snowpack
No signs of instability. The snowpack is mostly faceted near and below treeline. A lot of dry ground on southerly slopes. The coverage is patchy near treeline but there is consistent, although shallow, snow cover above treeline on southerlies. Above treeline on easterly, the snowpack is variable from thin areas with a fully faceted snowpack to old, hard, impenetrable wind slabs. Surface hoar was noted in some sheltered areas but it was mostly laying down. It's not really adding to the problems we will have when it snows, at least in this area.
