Clear skies, calm to light winds, and rapidly warming temperatures. Swamp Angel recorded above-freezing temperatures by 8 am (36 degrees F), and temperatures of 50 degrees or more from 11 am through 4 pm with a high of 56.
Snowpack
The snowpack averaged around 150 cm in depth. The top 100 cm had been heavily affected by melt water and was a combination of moist->wet rounds, melt-forms, melt-freeze crusts and ice crusts. Beneath this was K-hard rounds to the ground.
Avalanche
Several avalanches reached the highway from the Ledges, the Brooklyns and the Eagle this afternoon, up to D 2.5 in size, both wet loose and wet slabs. They were coded via Survey 123 and are searchable in the avalanche explorer.
