Weather was overcast, winds 15-20mph out of the south. Temps high 30s low 40s.
Snowpack
I was checking boot penetration throughout the skin in, boot pen 1-2 inches at most all the way up to 12,500' Snow was good corn snow texture, when I squeezed a handful of snow I couldn't wring water out of it. Snow seemed to be staying cold and didn't seem wet. No roller balls or entertaining snow when I ski cut
Avalanche
Couloir started at 12,600' and ran down the south west facing aspect. I did 3 ski cuts across the top of the couloir. On the third cut on the west facing side of the couloirt at around 12,500' cracking started underfoot and prepared downhill. Slab broke a few inches deep and began to slide. I skied into a safe zone in the rocks and the slab broke down to ground approximately 100' below me and ran down to 11,200', taking out about 10 trees mid path. Size R3D3 possibly bigger wet slab
