Significant rain crust observed to 1000m. At 1000m Ski pen was 18cm and 0 degrees. Significant fresh unconsolidated snow in sheltered areas from 1200m, ski pen at this elevation was boot top. Hand sheer at 1500m on E aspect showed easy result on January surface layer 40cm down. There was 20cm of fresh at this location and -5 degrees. No other noticeable signs of instabilities. We skied mellow, supported slopes. Winds were variable throughout the day as different systems moved over. S1 in the morning with significant snow transportation. Winds died down by midday with mainly sunny skies.
