Weather

Mostly clear night transitioned to partly cloudy conditions after sunrise (filtered cirrus and scattered cumulus). Breezy and cool 10-15 mph wind.

Snowpack

Punchy 1-2 inch thick crust above treeline with meltforms underneath, perhaps not completely dry from the previous day. Minor cracking and collapsing noted on the above-treeline part of the approach on south-facing low-angle slopes on the Arapaho Pass Trail and on relatively flat terrain in the basin. Crust deteriorated about midway up the couloir, sinking at times to mid calf 7:30-8:00 am.

Avalanche

Multiple wet loose and wet slab avys on easterly and southeasterly facing aspects that likely ran within the last few days.
