Snowpack
The snowpack below treeline is weak facets top to bottom. Even on a north slope around 11000' in a deeper area (110cm), the few inches of new snow caps a thin crust with facets below over a degraded mid-pack over larger depth hoar at the ground. The second you stepped off your skis, you sunk to the ground. The crust/facet combo near the top of the snowpack is concerning in this area, and would easily fail if we get a thick slab built over top.
