Crisp and bright frozen gloves kind of day. A few high thin clouds with wind chill values at ridgetop well into the negative digits.
Snowpack
Found 15cm of recent storm snow from 10,500-12,100ft on the Uncompahgre and San Juan National Forest border. Observed wind deposited snow in catchment features nearly 30cm deep. Had some isolated cracking, one collapse and no other signs of instability other than two recent natural Loose-dry slides pushed by small cornice releases. Mainly traveled on East and Southeast revealing a fairly even depth of 130-140cm within the elevation band sampled. Near treeline in open/sparsely tree covered areas, found the old interface, a 1F- 2 cm crust to collapse underfoot relatively easy upon every other step or so. A northwest-facing aspect/12,100ft at this location yielded HS 85cm near ridgetop.
