We spent the day in the Metal Dome area skiing mostly N slopes up to 30 degrees. There was good powder skiiing over a very supported crust. We saw evidence of cornice failure but no new avalanches and witnessed folks skiing steep slopes up to 50 degrees with minimal sluffing. At 1980m we dug on glacial terrain and found no results. There is 10 to 20cm of 4f snow overlying a 30cm k crust that is very hard to saw through. Below that is a 1f laminated MF crust 60cm wide, over a 2cm k crust then pencil snow to glacier ice. We had varing HS from 145 to 300+ m and crevasses seemed well bridged. At 1700m we probed 115cm. But sharks were lurking, especially on S aspects. Winds were light N to calm and temps stayed around -4 with high overcast skies.
