At 10am N-NE aspects on Flattop Mtn. (10,500ft) BTL. Sky: FEW, Precip: S-1, Tair: 3C. Winds SW 1-3mph

Snowpack

40cm new snow on top MF crust. HS:185cm, Roller balls present on NE aspects BTL/NTL below rock bands at 10:30am. New snow dense and sticking to skins. You can feel and hear the MF crust through new snow when descending.

Avalanche

Observed Wet Loose avalanche (R1 D1) at 11am on NE shoulder of Otis Peak, NE aspect, NTL (10,600ft -10,800ft) in narrow couloir (some call it The Spider). Viewed from Bear Lake Rd. Other small Wet Loose releases and roller balls on East and West Glacier Knobs off Bear Lake road as well at same time, seen from road.
