Eagle Weather Station (12,800ft) reported sustained 20-35mph northerly winds throughout the early morning to early afternoon with a peak gust of 54 mph at 11:00am. Yesterday's winds also reached prime loading speeds. Average daytime temperature at 12,800ft was about 19 degrees, 6-7 degrees warmer than the previous two days.
Avalanche
High likelihood this avalanche released today or within the last couple of days. If the slide occured today perhaps wind loading tipped the equilibrium state due to significant wind transport observed from about 8am to 1pm around Storm and Tower peaks. Fresh-looking crown and limited snow on the bed surface also point towards evidence of recent activity. Portions of the crown look to be 1 meter deep and the avalanche was about 500 feet wide and ran 2000 feet to the valley floor. Significant natural at any rate. Southwest-facing avalanche was observed across the same valley in another observation.
