Snowpack
First time in this zone for the year and, consistent with recent observations from the area, we observed very poor snowpack structure. Dug a pit at 11,200' on an ESE aspect: HS was 105cm; 15cm of depth hoar at the base of the snowpack was capped by a stout crust, with further 10cm of depth hoar / large facets resting on top of that crust; the upper snowpack contained multiple sun crusts and a thin layer of facets c.35cm down from the snow surface. CT results on both the upper facet layer (CT18 Q1) and depth hoar above the crust (CT21 Q1). ECTP 27 and PST 38/150 on the depth hoar above crust.
