Increasing cloud cover throughout the day kept the sun filtering in and out. Moderate to strong winds at higher elevations
Snowpack
Weak below-treeline with a barely supportable slab below the new snow. Sunny slopes had a small razor crust. Small 2-3mm surface hoar observed near-treeline in protected areas. Above-treeline open slopes were wind-effected and active loading was observed on east slopes.
Avalanche
Observed 2 large avalanches on the east face of Chicago Ridge. Both looked to be naturals and were probably triggered around 2/7.
