We could clearly see and feel a storm slab on top of facets. The ski quality was pretty poor, you would sink to the facets but then get stuck trying to get your skis above the storm slab. Not much coverage so lots of obstacles, hitting a few rocks on the ski down.

Slope angle 23 degree, 30x30cm column test. We got a rough planar fracture 30cm down (55cm from the ground) at moderate tap #4 (14 total) see pictures for more details. The failure was at the intersection between the facets and the storm slab. The layer of storm slab collapsed (but did not slide) at moderate tap #7 (17 total). After that we cleared the snow that had failed/collapsed and kept going to 30 but the facets layer didn't move. We didn't observe any depth hoar. First MIN for me so I tried to summarize vs using the right terms and acronyms.
