Weather

Scattered sky coverage and mostly sunny in Marble all morning. Variable precipitation around 12:30 PM with light snow near the treeline and a light drizzle of rain below 9,000 feet. Temperature was warm enough for snow to start melting off trees by 11:00 AM.

Snowpack

The weekends storm snow settled to about 4 cm of wet snow on top of a very prominent dust layer. The dust layer was beginning to resurface in some areas by the afternoon. South and southwest aspects below the treeline are mostly bare ground with southeast-facing slopes below treeline hold discontinuous snow coverage. Northerly slopes near and above the treeline had dry storm snow until around noon when it first began getting moist.

Avalanche

Dozens of small Loose Wet avalanches throughout the morning with two notable Loose Wet avalanches that grew large enough to bury a person.
