Snowpack

At treeline on a west southwest facing slope total snowpack depth was 65 cm. Shooting cracks and whumpfing were common in lower angle, sun-protected portions of this terrain. 10 to 15 cm of October depth hoar was found on this slope as well as an intact layer of buried surface hoar at 40 cm from the ground. Both persistent weak layers produced simultaneous propagating failures at 7 taps from the wrist during Extended Column Tests ECTP7
