Weather

Elevation: +/- 10,500ft Aspect: SE Location: Kobe Park Road, Lenado Colorado, Aspen Zone Weather: Heavy snow Feb 3-5th. Winds gusting and 2.5+ feet of new accumulation the night of the 3rd. 4th-5th had new snow accumulation of 6". Winds gusty from NW. 7th had sunny skies and windy. Noticed avalanche on the 5th of February

Snowpack

Elevation: +/- 10,500ft Aspect: SE Location: Kobe Park Road, Lenado Colorado, Aspen Zone Snowpack is similar to rest of Aspen zone. Faceted layers on bottom of a persistent slab. New snow on top of these weak layers. Did not dig a pit near slide site due to secondary slide risk being high. Suspicion of windward loading on this particular slide due to previous storm with N-NW winds.

Avalanche

Elevation: +/- 10,500ft Aspect: SE Location: Kobe Park Road, Lenado Colorado, Aspen Zone Numerous slides on this same aspect, elevation, and location. Saw 3 slides within 1/4 mile of each other all on this same slope. All slides occurred naturally post storm. Crowns of an estimated 1-3 feet on each slide. Fracture line 100-200 yards long breaking at the peak and sliding all the way down. All slides near or below tree line.
