A chilly but sunny day doing the hero's knob traverse to sweet sixteen. Plenty of evidence of class 1 natural avalanches on the surrounding slopes. No major instability on the uptrack but some facets in the trees. All creek crossings are frozen over, but the was still a surprising amount of free flowing water. We punched a skin track in and were rewarded with 30-50cm of untouched powder on the descent. There was a great deal of large avalanche debris near the bottom gully (right side) so traversing left to stay out of the iceball field is recommended. Despite the sunny day, the visibility at ~2:30pm was somewhat poor. Caution! Enter the run from far skiers right - there are rocks just under the surface across the rest of the ridge! This gets better ~50m further down. No pictures - it was cold!
