With the potential for wind slab problems on our mind, we headed for the most wind exposed place we could think of. It was a busy day on Mt McCreight with many groups out enjoying the great snow. Below treeline we had 10-15 cm of true champagne powder. In many places this sat on a very thin rime crust that may limit wind redistribution going forward. We saw little to no wind effect and even some large surface hoar growing in protected areas. As you get up into treeline there is some evidence of previous light wind transport with our rime crust at the surface. We didn't find any concerning snowpack test results in the pits we dug on SE and NE aspects.
