Low elevation avalanches in Kootenay Park

Avalanche control surprise today in Kootenay on Simpson avalanche paths. Triggered smallish avalanches in the start zones that carried only surface snow down most of the path, but when the debris reached about 1800m, it began to pull 50 cm slabs off the sidewalls and onto the skiable terrain in the vicinity. Several of these propagations were >100m wide. Watch out below treeline in this area, and that includes White Tail, Serac creek and vicinity.
