Surprise Pass

On the way to Surprise Pass, Visitor Safety dug a test profile on a south aspect at 2380m. We found two obvious crusts and got results on both. CTV, CTE 1 sudden collapse down 10cm and CTM 15, CTH 21 sudden collapse down 42cm on the Feb 16th crust. We followed a well traveled skin track to the pass and, after skiing 100m of moguls, found excellent powder turns right and left of the tracks to the creek.
