Day 1 field day of our AST 2. We were able to see a large chunk of the riding zone. On our travels we didn’t notice any new avalanche activity. We spent a great deal of time trying to seek out and test lee northerly aspects in the ALP and TL. Sled cuts produce no results. We did have one hard result on a compression test. In our profile @ 2200m NE asp, HS 230cm, CTH 26 (SC) dwn 45 cm failing on Fc (3mm). This was not repeated. Our extended column test showed no propagation. The best snow was found in the sheltered trees around 1800m to 1400m. If you put in a little effort and seek out locations that have not been affected by the recent wind the riding quality is greatly improved with well over 40 cm of blower pow to enjoy.
