Snowpack

On less shetered slopes we found isolated areas of windslab (from 12/31), producing multiple collapses and a few shooting cracks. The largest of these propagated over 10m. Elsewhere the snowpack was mostly weak and faceted, with boot penetration near the ground. In a pit @ 9,800ft w/ HS 62cm, we saw failures 14cm from the surface between a 2cm pencil hard windslab and underlying facets. Results of CTE 7 Q1 (SC), and failure but no propagation (ECTNP 11) on extended column. 10ft away compression tests produce only Q3 (PC) results in completely faceted snowpack where windslab wasn't present.
