Snowpack

The avalanche was skier/traveler-triggered (propagated out and down from our skin track high on the ridge), was R3-4, D2+, had a 90cm crown, was >300 feet wide and ~600 feet long, and ran to the ground along the whole affected area. Slope angle of what ran was +40 degrees. We were touring along the ridge from Marble Peak to the top of Mud Gulch, intending to access and assess lower angled glades NE of the slide zone. It was an impressive slide -- and underscored the importance of determining and following a safe tour and travel/approach plan!
