Snowpack

Cycle of natural avalanches in the Marble area late on Monday and early Tuesday morning. Widespread natural avalanches on north, northeast, and east aspects, especially near and above treeline, but observed avalanches at all elevations. Some avalanches observed on west and northwest aspects but not as widespread. Limited visibility on southerly aspects. Most avalanches observed were destructive size 2-3, with many reaching low into the run out zones. Most failed in the middle or upper snowpack. January 11th surface facet layer seems to be the main weak layer. Some avalanches failed at storm snow interface initially then stepped down to Jan 11th layer.
