Weather

Temps were very cold, staying below zero. Winds were calm to light from the SW, with a few moderate gusts in the late afternoon from the West with brief moderate snow transport. Broken skies developing to overcast, with very light snow beginning midday with 1" of accumulation.

Snowpack

2" in the past 24 hours. Storm board (since Thursday) at 4". Same structure as yesterday. On a West-facing slope near treeline that had avalanched near the ground in mid December, a ski cut initiated a dry loose avalanche (facet sluff) which gouged to the ground, about 12” deep. (L-ASc-R2D1-G). No other signs of instability.
