Weather

Partly cloudy/cloudy, moderate temps and light winds.

Snowpack

Toured on E to SE to E. Found either bulletproof wind-hammered snow or early recycled powder in trees. Surface slabs were stiff, and cracks were't propagating past ski tips (if that). South aspects have a nasty surface crust N/BTL.

Avalanche

Observed significant avalanche at the ridge line above current creek. Approximately E-SE aspect, near 12,500 (est). Probably R2-2.5, but the slab appears fairly deep. Released thin secondary slabs below. Didn't get closer than where the photos were taken from, but 3-5 days old perhaps. It doesn't look like the starting zone has refilled much if any, so I'd estimate this as relatively recent. ***Bonus points if you can spot the coyote crossing the debris in the pic of the lower slope.
