Weather

Cloudy, snowing moderately throughout the day. Increasing winds from the SW mod-strong, noticeably transporting snow. Winds appeared to be quite strong above TL as forecast. Temps in the 20's with windchill around zero at TL. Much warmer/less windy below TL.

Snowpack

Measured 10" new at the Bear Lk trailhead, 9500' @ 9am. 12-15" new on the ridgetops at TL. Surprisingly light density :) Top 5-8" was cracking and sloughing predictably with no signs of deeper instabilities on N facing 10300'. At 2pm, I returned to the trailhead via an E/SE aspect 9500', found moist snow and triggered several small WL slides in the new stuff. No natural activity observed.
