Weather

Wsnesday 1/4: Some gusts up to 15-20 mph on way in. When arrived at the hut, there was about 12 inches total by end of day. [S1+ , S2] . Wednesday Night: Woke up in the middle of the night and heard some windy gusts, but not too steady. Thursday: Woke up to 15 inches of new snow on top of 12 from day before. - 8 am. S-1+,15F, none-light, 15 inches new. 12 noon, S-2, 14F, none-light, 5 inches new. 8 pm, S-1-, 10F, none-light. HS on bench above hut 175 cm. Thursday Night: None-light winds, skies cleared. Friday: About 1 inch on plate. Bluebird skies. -5F.

Snowpack

Weds: Skinning in breaking trail through about 8 inches to snow. A lot of wind affect on trail below the avy paths on Mace, not so much elsewhere.. Thursday: Snow was dense but not wind slabby, carried you well for how deep it was. We noticed no signs of cracking or whoomphfing. All in all, storm seemed to come in with little wind. Saw minimal signs of instability, even on Friday when the skies cleared..

Avalanche

Avalanche Activity Friday on out: - D-2 on E-facing prow slopes above hut getting into Montezuma. Looked like storm snow but could have been deeper D2+. - D-2 on NE-facing slope near Yellow Boy (Britt said it had previously slid in same location).
